Digital Kidnapping
The act of appropriating images of a minor, either by assuming their identity or that of their parents, commonly known as Digital Kidnapping (DK), is frequently undertaken with the intention of exposing private or sensitive information that can detrimentally impact the child's life. Such malicious activities may result in difficulties for the child in gaining acceptance to educational institutions or expose them to the perils of bullying. In uncommon instances, an individual with nefarious motives may adopt the persona of a parent, leading the impostor's followers to believe that they hold a legitimate familial connection with the child. Additionally, by adopting the guise of a peer or authority figure, adults may illicitly gather information about minors, employing it for real-world criminal activities, including the abhorrent act of kidnapping.
